Andrew Paul Black was born on January 14, 1978, in Rexburg, Idaho, to D. Kim and Janita Black. He was the sixth of eight children and had a lively, adventure-filled childhood. Andrew enjoyed horseback riding, camping, fishing, and hunting with his dad and brothers and cherished the moments spent exploring the mountains. Growing up in a musical household, he developed a strong love for music and played the trumpet throughout his teenage years.

As he matured, Andrew found a passion for the outdoors-especially rock climbing, skiing, and hiking-which he enjoyed with many friends from college and high school. At age 13, he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease that would affect him throughout his life; however, he approached every obstacle with quiet strength and determination without ever complaining.

Andrew served faithfully as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Mission. He remained an active member throughout his life and took on many responsibilities including Sunday School teacher, Elders Quorum member, Primary leader, and most recently served on the Ontario Oregon Stake high council. Andrew had a profound testimony of Jesus Christ that guided every part of his life; he found peace in following the Savior’s example of love and service. He often shared quiet yet powerful witness about God’s influence in his life and drew great comfort from knowing that challenges could lead to personal growth while drawing him closer to Christ.

While attending college, Andrew met Becky Anderson who would later become his wife. They became good friends quickly dated for a year before getting married at the Idaho Falls Temple. During their courtship period, Andrew learned that his kidney disease had progressed to needing a transplant. After some time on dialysis treatment, his sister Janine made an incredible sacrifice by donating one of her kidneys to him. Thanks to her selflessness, Andrew was able to marry Becky and start their journey together.

He attended Ricks College followed by Idaho State University where he earned a degree in Biology. Just before finishing up his studies their first child Kimball came into their lives. Soon after they moved to Des Moines Iowa so Andrew could attend Des Moines University studying podiatric medicine. While living there they welcomed their daughter Hazel who immediately won her father’s heart over. Their time spent in Iowa created joyful memories filled with lasting friendships.

After completing medical school along with residency rotations Andrew finished up a three-year residency program in Salt Lake City Utah while working at the Veterans Hospital during this busy time their son Henry joined the family as well! Upon finishing training Andrew accepted a job offer from St. Alphonsus Health System which meant moving them back again but now settling down roots in New Plymouth Idaho.

A few years later things took another turn when it became evident that Andrew’s transplanted kidney was failing leading him once more into challenges involving dialysis as well as surgery options available out there too! His brother Randy stepped forward offering another precious gift-a second kidney donation! Shortly thereafter their youngest son Wilson arrived completing this beautiful family unit!

For fourteen years afterward Andrew served both Ontario & Fruitland communities working diligently as podiatrist within St. Alphonsus system earning deep respect among colleagues while being beloved by patients alike-not only because of outstanding medical skills but also due compassion shown consistently towards others around him whenever possible! He had an extraordinary talent making individuals feel appreciated sometimes even taking extra moments just sitting quietly comforting grieving widows or visiting elderly patients needing company!

He lived by saying “I work hard so I can play hard.” Finding joy along riverside rafting or fishing trips alongside brothers hiking new trails camping adventures shared together creating countless treasured memories amongst family members present during such outings combined those experiences perfectly well blending fun times together!.

Music always held special significance throughout Andrews’ lifetime enjoying quality tunes passionately declaring “music is religion” choosing carefully what defined ‘good music’ educating loved ones about these preferences especially influencing Hazel becoming concert buddy sharing interest bands alike leaving behind encyclopedic knowledge regarding artists lyrics genres famed too hence when playing tunes during surgeries staff would chuckle teasingly asking trivia questions kept entertaining environment alive!

In recent years nothing brought greater happiness than spending quality moments alongside Becky going temple dates weekly exploring new places discovering hidden gems together Hawaii turned out favorite spot traveling across world Italy trip taken alongside “kidney siblings” ranked among most memorable experiences gained ever since becoming part lives enrichingly intertwined forevermore!
