A 32-year-old woman from Ottawa has died following a crash on Highway 401 close to Dixie Road on Thursday in Mississauga, Ont., say provincial police.

As per a statement from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were dispatched to a collision that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian in the eastbound collectors’ lanes at around 6:10 a.m.

The vehicle did not stay at the scene, according to OPP in a social media update on Thursday afternoon. Provincial police are urging anyone who might have information to reach out.

No other injuries have been reported, state both OPP and Peel paramedics.

All eastbound collectors’ lanes were shut down due to the accident but reopened at about 11:30 a.m., as noted by Ontario Provincial Police on social media.

The reason for the crash is still unknown. Provincial police indicate that their investigation is ongoing.
