Two individuals from Mississauga have been charged following a shooting incident in Caledon earlier this year that led to the recovery of cocaine and their subsequent arrests.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the events began on March 18 at around 10 p. m. when officers were called to a report of gunfire at a residence on Bambi Trail in Bolton, Caledon.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries, police noted, adding that a white Kia SUV was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

An investigation followed, prompting police to carry out two search warrants at a home in Mississauga-one on April 21 and another this past Thursday, as stated by OPP in a news release.

During these searches, officers recovered approximately 16.6 grams of cocaine along with “items consistent with the sale and trafficking of drugs, as well as other evidence that was relevant to the shooting investigation,” according to police.

Devanie Lewis, 36 years old from Mississauga, faces charges for:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine. Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm. Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner.

Juan Roman De Leon, 39 years old from Mississauga, is charged with:

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm. Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner.

Both suspects were held pending their bail hearing and remain in custody.

If anyone has information or surveillance/dashcam footage regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
