Two men from Mississauga have been charged following a robbery at a store in Ontario cottage country on Tuesday morning, where the suspects were armed with hammers.

The Ontario Provincial Police reported that they responded to a robbery call just before 11 a. m. at a shop located on Front Street North near Neywash Street in Orillia, which is roughly 30 kilometres northeast of Barrie.

According to OPP, “It was reported that two individuals had attended the store with hammers, stole property and then left in a vehicle,” adding that thankfully no injuries occurred during the incident.

A short time after the robbery, police managed to locate and stop the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte, heading towards Barrie.

Both suspects were arrested shortly thereafter and the stolen items were recovered, as stated by law enforcement officials.

Abdel Ramadan, aged 22, and Makram Bani Ata, aged 21, both from Mississauga, face several charges including:

Robbery with theft Disguise with intent Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Bani Ata is also facing an additional charge of assault with a weapon according to police reports.

The two men are currently held in custody and are set to appear for a bail hearing on Wednesday at the Orillia court.
