Ontario’s police watchdog says there was little extra cops may have executed to cease a person’s deadly fall from a Mississauga condo balcony earlier this yr.

The incident occurred on Sept. 1 round 8:30 p.m. when Peel Regional Cops had been known as to an condo constructing within the space of Lakeshore Highway West and Maple Avenue South, the Particular Investigations Unit says.

The person had been tossing objects off the balcony, “acting erratically” and “screaming incoherently.”

One officer entered the constructing and tried to speak with the person from a neighbouring balcony, and the person fell to the bottom under.

Two different officers offered first help to the person, and paramedics transported the person to hospital the place he was pronounced dead.

The SIU was known as in to research following the person’s demise, and Director Joseph Martino stated in his choice says the officers acted rapidly, and that there wasn’t “much more the officers could have done in the circumstances.”

Martino stated there isn’t a foundation for legal charges on this case, and that the file has been closed.

The SIU known as in to research anytime a police incident in Ontario includes demise, severe harm, the discharge of a firearm, or allegations of sexual assault.
