A man from Ontario is facing charges after police discovered his gun in Mississauga, which is about 200 kilometers away from his residence.
On January 15, Peel Regional Police notified Huron County Ontario Provincial Police that they had recovered a handgun registered to a resident of Huron East.
Huron East is situated in southwestern Ontario along the shores of Lake Huron.
The OPP did not disclose the exact location in Mississauga where the firearm was found or the circumstances surrounding its discovery by Peel Police.
Following their investigation, authorities managed to locate the owner of the gun and pressed charges against him.
A 52-year-old individual from Huron East faces charges for:
Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition. Lost firearm or weapon – not reported.
The accused has been processed and released from custody, with a court date set for March 16 in Goderich, according to police.
