Only three months after stepping down due to a hotel spending issue, Ontario’s former tourism minister is back in action at Queens Park.
Stan Cho has taken on the position of parliamentary assistant to Education Minister Paul Calandra. This new role comes shortly after he resigned for expensing over $16,000 for hotel stays in Toronto while living just six kilometers from the legislature.
Parliamentary assistants earn an additional $22,000 along with their MPP salary.
In a statement shared on X in July, Cho mentioned that he has fully repaid all his expenses.
“Looking back now, I made a mistake. I am taking full responsibility, as I do not want to be a distraction from our plan to grow the economy, keep families safe, and build this province,” Cho previously stated.

Stiles Calls for Cho’s Dismissal
On Friday, NDP opposition leader Marit Stiles urged the Premier to let Cho go.
“It’s time for the Premier to show some respect for people’s hard-earned tax dollars and fire Stan Cho,” she wrote.
Cho isn’t the only one seeing changes among parliamentary assistants as several new individuals join the team.
Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, is now serving as the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Transportation while also acting as a deputy whip.
Meanwhile, Billy Denault, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, has been appointed as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
