Nine people were saved from Lake Ontario on Saturday afternoon after their boat overturned near Port Credit Harbour Marina in Mississauga.
The Peel Regional Police Marine Unit responded to the emergency call shortly after 5 p. m.
Officers found the capsized boat about 50 metres south of the Ridgetown breakwall, with nine individuals hanging onto it.
All were safely brought back to the marina, and no injuries were reported apart from some minor scrapes.
Authorities mentioned that a good samaritan on a personal watercraft helped rescue one person before police arrived.
Officials noted that strong winds and waves of 2 to 3 metres made the rescue difficult.
The boat was later spotted on rocks near the west side of the Credit River. Because of dangerous weather and water conditions, recovery efforts were not attempted.
Police indicated that the Coast Guard was informed of its last known position.
