2026 Canadian Race Taking Place Aug. 14-16
On September 3, Green Savoree Toronto ULC, the City of Markham, and INDYCAR announced that the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy will be relocating to a new venue in 2026 through a multiyear agreement. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES will take over an exciting new street circuit in the City of Markham from August 14-16, 2026.
Markham, Ontario, is located next to Toronto’s northeastern boundary and is part of York Region, which is seeing rapid growth with a population exceeding 1.25 million residents (photo below). The race will take place in Markham Centre, the bustling downtown area filled with various Canadian corporate offices, the York University Markham Campus, and the renowned Markham Pan Am Centre – a key location during the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the rich history of NTT INDYCAR SERIES racing continue in Ontario,” said Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles. “Markham is a growing and diverse city that offers an incredible backdrop for our thrilling wheel-to-wheel racing. I’d like to express my gratitude to Mayor Frank Scarpitti for this exciting partnership along with Jeff Atkinson and his team at Green Savoree Toronto for their leadership. It’s essential for INDYCAR to stay connected with our fans in Canada, and we’re really looking forward to this new chapter beginning next year.”
The new Markham circuit has great access via two major 400-series highways, Unionville GO Station, and the VIVA Rapid Transit system, making it perfectly positioned to welcome fans from all over Southern Ontario and beyond. The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham promises to be the largest sports and cultural event ever held in York Region’s history. Over three days, it’s expected to attract more than 140,000 attendees and generate tens of millions in economic impact through sports tourism, hospitality services, and events.
“We can’t wait for INDYCAR SERIES racing to hit our streets starting in 2026,” stated Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “We are proud to host this world-class event within our community. I want to thank Green Savoree Toronto, Penske Entertainment Corp., NTT INDYCAR SERIES, the Ontario Honda Dealers Association as well as the Province of Ontario for trusting us with this opportunity. Markham is ready to enhance its strong sports legacy by providing a new home where this beloved summer tradition can flourish. I’m incredibly proud of our team at the City of Markham for accomplishing this initiative within just months.”
Minister of Sport Neil Lumsden commented: “The Indy is one of North America’s top motorsport events that has been vital on Ontario’s events calendar for nearly forty years now. Sport tourism plays a significant role in boosting our province’s economy; I’m excited that this iconic event will continue its journey here; thanks go out to the City of Markham for welcoming it as we embark on this new chapter together. This event will drive tourism further while enhancing Ontario’s reputation as an excellent destination for top-tier sporting events.”

The temporary track will be constructed in eastern downtown Markham between Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, Unionville GO tracks and Highway 407. Renowned track designer Tony Cotman from NZR Consulting has spearheaded the design process for this temporary circuit featuring a layout with twelve turns spanning 2.19 miles (3.52 km), including dual pit lanes along with thrilling straightaways plus technically challenging sections. Early preparations on both track construction and festival site have begun by the City of Markham working closely alongside Metrolinx as well as other local partners.
“Green Savoree Toronto announces today its multi-year agreement with the City of Markham establishing it as home base for this motorsports tradition,” shared Jeff Atkinson president of Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. “We look forward toward building an enduring relationship with Mayor Frank Scarpitti his team at The City Of mark ham along side INDYCAR moving forward!
