Billy Pang has been re-elected as MPP for Markham-Unionville, claiming his third term with the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.

As per the unofficial results from all 46 polling stations, Pang secured 20,113 votes, which is 61.2 percent of the total vote.

Liberal candidate Jagbir Dosanjh came in second with 10,158 votes (30.9 percent), while Sameer Qureshi from the NDP received 1,298 votes, Chris Madsen from the Green Party got 772 votes, and Nick Boudreau from the New Blue Party earned 545 votes.

Despite a brief campaign period and tough winter conditions, Pang described the outcome as “not bad.”

“The top priority for us is the economy,” Pang stated, stressing that the Progressive Conservatives aim to generate more jobs and protect Ontario’s economic interests against tariff threats posed by the Trump administration.

On a local level, Pang pointed out education and community safety as important areas of focus.

“Here in Unionville, I’ll keep working to invest more in schools and policing,” he mentioned.

Pang is a first-generation Canadian originally from Hong Kong and was first elected as an MPP in 2018. Before stepping into provincial politics, he served as a trustee for the York Region District School Board.

Liberal candidate Jagbir Dosanjh, running his first campaign, acknowledged that it was a valuable learning experience.

“I didn’t know what to expect,” Dosanjh reflected. “The campaign was too short, but we did what we could and gained a lot of support. It was quite an experience – I’d do it again.”
