The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham is excited to announce that 407 ETR will serve as the “Official Highway Sponsor” for the first-ever race weekend in Markham happening from August 14-16. As the world’s first all-electronic open access toll highway, it will provide fans from the Greater Toronto Area, throughout Ontario, and even further away with easy access to the festival site right off this major expressway.
“Communities across the GTA are thriving, and the arrival of the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham is an exciting example of that success,” said Jose Espinosa, President and CEO of 407 ETR. “One-in-three Markham residents have relied on Highway 407 ETR to get to their destinations, and the Highway enables an additional 1.2 million people from across the region to reach Downtown Markham within an hour compared to alternate routes. For major events that draw visitors from across Canada and around the world, travellers arriving through Pearson Airport can save more than an hour getting to Downtown Markham during evening rush hour. When communities are connected, they’re better positioned to attract visitors, support local businesses and host the kinds of world-class events that strengthen their economies and enrich community life.”
As part of this partnership, 407 ETR will feature a significant gathering area at the festival site with naming rights to its top fan hub: 407 ETR Thunder Alley. Just like Highway 407 ETR connects various communities in the GTA seamlessly, Thunder Alley will link fans directly to all activities over the weekend. The 407 ETR Thunder Alley will offer interactive experiences, exhibits, merchandise sales, diverse dining options, and plenty of fun activities for families and kids of all ages so everyone stays energized for a full day at the track.
“The connection between Ontario’s fastest weekend and its fastest highway is a perfect match,” said Jeff Atkinson, president of the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. “Partnering with 407 ETR ensures our fans from across the GTA, Province and surrounding areas have a quick route straight to the track so they can spend less time in traffic and more time enjoying everything that this incredible event has to offer.”
Getting to the track is hassle-free. Highway 407 ETR provides direct regional links-connecting Markham west via Highways 400, 427, and 401; east via Highways 404 and 412. Drivers can exit directly at Warden Avenue which leads right into the festival site.
Fans are encouraged to use a transponder for easier fee management on Highway 407 ETR by creating a My Account on 407etr. com or its mobile app for convenient account handling along with exclusive benefits. Drivers traveling from outside Ontario or U. S. can register their vehicles with Next Pass for easier travel management while saving on fees.
This August marks the debut of Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham in downtown under a multi-year agreement. A temporary street circuit featuring twelve turns over a distance of 3.52-kilometres (2.19-miles) will be set up in eastern precincts bordered by Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, and Unionville GO tracks.
