Ontario’s police watchdog is looking into the death of a 32-year-old woman from London that happened on Friday morning.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reports that London police were called to an unspecified business on Fanshawe Park Road West at around 12:10 a. m. for a welfare check.
According to the agency, officers spoke with the woman at the location and later took her home near Fanshawe Park Road West and Pinnacle Parkway where she was left.
“The next morning, a family member went to the home and located the woman deceased,” stated the SIU.
A post-mortem examination is set for Sunday, and three investigators along with one forensic investigator have been assigned to this case, as mentioned by the SIU.
The police watchdog looks into cases involving police actions that lead to serious injury, death, or sexual assault claims.
This marks the ninth investigation initiated this year by the SIU involving London police. Five of these cases are related to injuries while in custody, and three concern allegations of sexual assault.

Man Seriously Hurt in Huron County
The agency is also examining an incident involving Huron County OPP where a 69-year-old man suffered serious injuries. The SIU states that this man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in connection with an event from February and taken to OPP’s Huron detachment. “While being escorted to the cells, an interaction occurred between the man and officers. The man was eventually placed in a cell,” noted the SIU. He was later taken to hospital and diagnosed with a serious injury that hasn’t been specified.
