The police oversight agency in Ontario is looking into a serious collision that happened between a vehicle and a police cruiser north of London on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services arrived at the intersection of Nairn Road and Centre Road in North Middlesex around 3:30 p. m., responding to the incident involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle, as reported by authorities.
An OPP officer and the driver of the other car were both taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has activated its protocol and started its investigation. The SIU looks into incidents involving police officers and civilians that have led to severe injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
The OPP closed off the intersection of Nairn and Centre roads for several hours on Sunday.
