A suspicious house fire in Kitchener is now being looked into as arson, and authorities are actively searching for a resident who has vanished. They now suspect that foul play may be involved in this case.
On the morning of October 19, emergency services responded to a residential blaze on Major Street, where one of the back units was completely engulfed.
The fire resulted in major property damage, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The following day, the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) made a post online regarding a missing 25-year-old named Eli Wood.

Authorities later confirmed that Wood resided in the unit that was damaged by the fire. In the weeks since then, police have been unable to find Wood and believe that foul play could be linked to their disappearance.
Wood is described as standing 4’10”, weighing between 85 and 95 pounds, with green eyes and partial white hair. They also have a flower and seahorse tattoo on their left forearm and a rainbow tattoo on their right upper arm.
If anyone has information about Wood’s whereabouts, they’re encouraged to reach out to investigators at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation into the arson remains ongoing by both WRPS General Investigations and Major Crime units, working together with the Ontario Fire Marshal.
