It’s been almost two months since 25-year-old Eli Wood vanished from his home in Kitchener, Ont., under unclear circumstances.

Now, Eli’s family is putting up a $5,000 reward for any information that could help locate him and bring him back safely.

Cindy Wood Amero, Eli’s mother, has chosen not to do media interviews but has shared on Facebook her plea for people to keep searching for her son.

“Someone must have information. I never imagined I’d have to rely on strangers to help me with my children, but I’m imploring you to please help – don’t give up,” Wood Amero wrote in a Dec. 14 post.

“My child deserves every ounce of love and support possible. Eli is an exceptionally kind and compassionate individual who would never hesitate to help others in this situation.”

Fire Ruled as Arson

Eli hasn’t been seen by friends or family since a fire destroyed his home in Kitchener on Oct. 19. He had been living in a unit at the back of the house.

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) investigators have stated that the fire was arson, targeted specifically, and they suspect foul play may be involved in Eli’s disappearance.

In an email sent on Wednesday, Const. Chris Iden from WRPS said that the investigation is still active and there are no updates available for the public at this moment.

This month, when a ground search was planned but ultimately canceled due to bad weather, police acknowledged the “significant” public interest surrounding this case.

“We want to assure the public that this is a very active and ongoing investigation, and our family liaison officer is in daily contact with Eli’s family to provide updates,” police stated.

“When it is appropriate and responsible to do so, additional details and updates will be released publicly.”

Eli is currently enrolled in the master of social work program at Wilfrid Laurier University and identifies as part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Eli stands about 4-foot-10 and weighs between 85 and 95 pounds; he has green eyes along with light-colored hair and eyebrows. He also has a flower tattoo alongside a seahorse tattoo on his left forearm, plus a rainbow tattoo on the upper part of his right arm.
