These cuddly collectibles are a hot item this holiday season, and Waterloo regional police have reported recovering thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen Jellycats.

The investigation into thefts of these popular stuffed toys began after reports from a store on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener in late October, with more incidents occurring at the same location on December 6.

Approximately $2,000 worth of Jellycats were reportedly taken.

On Tuesday this week, police conducted a raid at a home in Guelph, where they discovered about 140 stolen toys. Most of them were Jellycats that had been taken from various locations throughout southern Ontario.

The estimated total value of the stolen toys is around $7,500.

A 52-year-old woman from Guelph has been charged with theft and trafficking in stolen property.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if any other stores have been targeted.

If anyone has information related to this case, they are encouraged to contact police at 519-570-9777 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
