One of the family members hurt in last Friday’s tragic car accident near Kitchener that claimed five young lives has now been released from hospital.

Nancy Doerksen, a relative organizing a Go Fund Me for family expenses that has surpassed $250,000 in donations, provided an update to supporters on that page.

“We wanted to share a quick update with everyone who has been keeping our family in their thoughts and prayers,” wrote Doerksen.

“Our youngest brother has now been released from the hospital. Thankfully, his injuries were limited to a broken leg, and he is recovering well at home.”

Meanwhile, Doerksen mentioned that her mother is still hospitalized but improving.

“Our mom continues her recovery journey and is making slow but steady progress,” Doerksen wrote. “She is still awaiting hip surgery and has a long road of healing ahead of her.”

Their mother suffered damage to her kidney, liver, gallbladder along with broken ribs and pelvic bone injuries as well as extensive bruising and trauma.
