A range of illegal items was confiscated at a federal facility in Kingston, Ont., valued at around $100,000.

As reported by Correctional Service Canada (CSC), staff members recovered several packages between April 10 and 13 at Collins Bay Institution.

The packages contained prohibited goods and unauthorized items, including tobacco, cellphones, and their accessories.

The total estimated value within the institution was approximately $100,815.

CSC mentioned that they employ various tools to stop drugs from entering institutions. This includes ion scanners and detection dogs. These resources are used to inspect not just buildings but also personal belongings, inmates, and visitors.

The agency stated that they have heightened efforts to block contraband from entering their facilities to maintain a safe and secure environment.
