Kingston is one of several cities, including Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Peterborough, Ottawa, and Petawawa, that will experience more military traffic on its roads and highways.

A news release states that residents can expect to see transport and supply convoys from the 33 Canadian Brigade Group on August 20-21 and again on August 29-30.

Canadian Army Reserve personnel will be traveling on various roads such as Ontario highways 7, 17, 26, 41, 55, 115, 401, 403, and 417.

“This increased military traffic is in support of annual training and will follow pre-planned routes. Convoys will transport over 500 soldiers and their equipment in Department of National Defence vehicles and chartered buses. Participating personnel will conduct planned, short stops along the routes, stopping for rest, fuel, and scheduled maintenance,” read the release.

Officials also mentioned that the soldiers involved won’t be carrying any weapons or ammunition during public stops along the designated travel routes for this regular exercise.

Members of the Canadian Army Reserve from Northern, Central and Eastern Ontario will participate in Exercise Wolfpack Guardian from August 21 to 29 at Garrison Petawawa. This is a key end-of-summer training event featuring simulated combat operations as part of the Canadian Armed Forces’ mission for preparedness and readiness.

Troops from various Ontario communities will take part in this event including infantry, artillery, and signals units from Northern, Central and Eastern Ontario.

The public is asked to exercise extra caution when approaching military vehicles.
