For Kingston and nearby areas, this means what meteorologists are calling a “noncommittal and inconsistent” season - one where warm periods develop but are frequently interrupted by cooler air and unstable weather. “What that means for us is an unsettled summer, a changeable summer,” said Michael Carter, meteorology manager at The Weather Network. “You don’t really lock into one pattern for extended periods of time.”The fluctuating conditions are linked to a quick shift from La Niña to El Niño - a natural climate cycle influenced by warming ocean waters in the equatorial Pacific. This transition alters global atmospheric circulation patterns like jet streams which affect storm paths and temperature trends across North America. The Kingston Whig-Standard's Noon News RoundupYour weekday lunchtime roundup of curated links , news highlights , analysis , and features.By signing up you consentto receive the above newsletterfrom Postmedia Network Inc.!A welcome emailis on its way.
