Hamilton police have announced they are looking into a workplace death at a waste transfer facility in the city’s industrial area.

Officers responded to the location on Strathearne Avenue around 4:20 p. m. on Monday after receiving reports that a worker had been hit by heavy machinery.

A 48-year-old man was found critically injured and later passed away.

The incident involved both a commercial vehicle and heavy equipment operating at the scene.

The Ministry of Labour is collaborating with the police, and the coroner’s officer has mandated an autopsy.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
