A 58-year-old woman from Hamilton, who had been missing since January, was found dead this month, according to police.
On April 8, the Hamilton Police Service reported that officers discovered a body in the water near Harbour Front Drive. On Monday, they confirmed her identity as Dorota Pruszewski.
Pruszewski’s family had reported her missing on January 13, as stated in a police news release at that time. They mentioned she was last seen leaving her North-End home that day, and her family was “concerned for her well-being.”
Despite weeks of “extensive search efforts” with help from her family and community members, Pruszewski could not be located initially, police said.
A post on Facebook from a local restaurant promoted a search party at the waterfront on January 21 for Pruszewski, mentioning she “always has a big smile on her face and is very friendly.”
This week, police indicated that “foul play is not suspected in her death,” expressing their gratitude to everyone involved in the search efforts and offering condolences to Dorota’s family and loved ones during this challenging time.
