A man is seriously injured following the first shooting of 2026 in Hamilton, and police are searching for the suspect.
According to Hamilton Police, officers were dispatched to a report of gunfire at a business near East 28th Street and Fennell Avenue East on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 7:13 p. m.
The victim was located with injuries and taken to a hospital where he is listed in serious condition, authorities said.
This marks the first shooting incident of this year, according to police.
Authorities have confirmed that the alleged shooter escaped in a vehicle that was waiting nearby and are asking for help from the public in identifying both the suspect and the car.
The suspect is described as a male between six feet and six-foot-three inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark green puffy winter jacket, a black hoodie featuring a large white “Adidas” logo on the front, black pants, and black shoes.
The vehicle involved is thought to be a 2020 Honda Civic four-door model, either silver or grey. It was last spotted leaving the scene heading north on Upper Sherman Avenue from Brucedale Avenue East, according to police.
