A 19-year-old has been charged related to a crash that resulted in the death of a mother in Guelph last week.
As per the latest update from authorities, a man from northern Ontario faces charges for careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm after his pick-up truck collided with a family crossing an intersection.
The incident occurred just after 5:00 p. m. on Sept. 19 at the intersection of Paisley Road and Alma Street North. According to police, a couple from Guelph was walking with their three-year-old daughter when they were hit by the truck while in the crosswalk.
The three individuals were taken to the hospital where the mother, aged 38, passed away. Her husband, also 38, received treatment for minor injuries and was released. Their daughter was airlifted to a trauma center in Hamilton as a precaution but was released later that same night.
The driver stayed at the scene and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17.
