A 75-year-old cyclist suffered fatal injuries in a crash close to downtown Kingston, Ont., on Friday, as reported by the city’s police department.

The accident took place on Princess Street, just east of Bath Road, according to Kingston Police, who issued a statement regarding the incident and subsequent road closures on Friday evening.

The male cyclist was taken to the hospital but sadly passed away due to his injuries, police stated on Monday.

Authorities did not provide more information about the victim, mentioning they did not expect to file charges related to the incident.
