A Halton Regional Police dog is on the mend after being shot when it accidentally triggered a firearm during a robbery investigation in Burlington, as reported by multiple sources.
The event took place on Thursday near Burloak Drive and Harvester Road when a Halton police K9 unit was called to help with a robbery.
The dog and its handler were searching outdoors “for discarded property” when the dog’s paw hit a gun, resulting in the dog being shot in the leg, according to .
The police dog is expected to recover well, and no other injuries have been reported.
Two individuals were taken into custody. Authorities have not disclosed if any charges have been filed yet.
