Visitors at Burlington Beach might see more police officers around this weekend due to a youth event taking place.

The Halton Regional Police Service has acknowledged “a large planned youth gathering” that’s happening on Saturday at Burlington Beach.

Some parents have expressed concerns about the beach party through posts on Facebook groups. Details about the event were reportedly shared among young people via social media and group chats.

Police have stated there will be “an enhanced police presence” in the area on Saturday “to help ensure public safety.”

“Unsafe, disruptive, or unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in enforcement action,” police said in a release. “Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children and reconsider attending the area. Public safety is a shared responsibility.”
