One man was charged after Burlington City Hall was placed under a hold and secure yesterday.

A City of Burlington staff member received a phone call from an angry man who threatened to harm city employees, Halton Regional Police reported.

The call came in at around 1:15 p. m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, according to police. Shortly afterward, City Hall was closed as a safety measure, they added. Employees were sent home.

Police said they arrested a suspect connected to the incident just after 8 p. m.

The hold and secure was lifted Wednesday night and City Hall reopened Thursday morning, as stated in a post from the city.

A 37-year-old male resident of Burlington faces one count of making threats to cause death.

Police did not disclose the man’s name.

The man is being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
