Region of Peel – Authorities from the Central Robbery Bureau have taken two people into custody and charged them related to a violent carjacking that occurred in Brampton.
On Saturday, Jan. 10, around 2:10 a. m., a man and woman were getting out of their vehicle near Queen Street East and Goreway Drive when they were approached by two masked individuals. At this moment, it is alleged that the suspects assaulted the male victim and took the couple’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.
One suspect was apprehended shortly after the event, while another remained at large.
On Thursday, June 18, investigators found and arrested the outstanding suspect following a focused surveillance operation in Vaughan.
As a result of this investigation, Evan Nurse, 23, from Vaughan, and Shemar Sallaby, 23, from Brampton have been charged with these Criminal Code offences:
Robbery Disguise with Intent Flight from Peace Officer Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Possession of Property Obtained by Crime X2
Both individuals were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton where they were released under various conditions.
