Hamilton Police Service’s Homicide Unit has revealed that the victim in Wednesday’s homicide case is 29-year-old Taranpreet Singh Sidhu from Brampton.

Emergency services arrived at around 8:15 a. m. on Wednesday, July 15, after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual found in a culvert near the north end of Fruitland Road. Sadly, Sidhu was declared dead at the scene.

After the initial investigation, detectives confirmed that Sidhu’s death was indeed a homicide.

The cause of death is not being released at this point since the investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities believe that Sidhu was not killed in the location where he was discovered. Investigators are actively looking into the details surrounding his death.

The Hamilton Police Service is collaborating closely with the Peel Regional Police Service, which has provided additional resources to support their Homicide Unit.

Detectives have conducted thorough video canvassing in the area where Sidhu was found and are reviewing surveillance footage and digital evidence while interviewing witnesses to trace his activities leading up to his death. Although detectives are exploring all possible leads, they aren’t ready to share information about any vehicle thought to be involved in transporting Sidhu.

Sidhu moved to Canada from India in 2022. After arriving, he lived in both Brampton and Halifax while working as a truck driver.

Investigators are reaching out for anyone who interacted with Sidhu or has information about his whereabouts prior to his death to get in touch with police. They’re particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have surveillance, dash cam, or doorbell camera footage that could aid their investigation.

If you have any information, please contact Detective Lindsay Filice of the Homicide Unit at 905-546-2288 or via email at lfilice1215@hamiltonpolice. ca.

You can also provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visiting www. crimestoppershamilton. com.
