A man has lost his life following an industrial accident at a construction site in Brampton, Ont., on Monday afternoon, according to officials.

Police responded to a call on Kennedy Road S., close to Clarence Street, just before 4 p. m., as stated by Peel Regional Police Const. Tyler Bell-Morena.

Authorities were informed that someone had fallen into a construction hole, Bell-Morena mentioned.

The man was declared dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics trying to revive him, he added.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour reported in an email Tuesday that it was notified about the workplace fatality in Brampton on Monday. Two ministry inspectors arrived at the site to conduct an investigation, they said.

No further details are available since the investigation is ongoing, according to the ministry.

Police have cordoned off the area.
