Region of Peel – Officers from the 22 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male from Brampton after a traffic stop for careless driving resulted in the discovery of a loaded, unauthorized firearm.
On Friday, Feb. 27, CIRT officers were patrolling near Kennedy Road and Clarence Road in Brampton when they noticed a vehicle speeding and making unsafe lane changes.
After pulling over the vehicle, officers searched the driver under the Cannabis Control Act and found a loaded Glock 17 handgun along with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition.
As a result, Malachi King-Favours has been arrested and charged with these offences:
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm Carrying concealed weapon Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized Careless Driving
King-Favours was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
