Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown wants to rename a city park in honor of a provincial police officer who was tragically killed last week.
OPP Const. Tarun Bali lost his life when he was hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by an 18-year-old who had escaped from a hospital in Hearst, Ontario. Bali had been with the OPP for two and a half years and was assigned to the Dufferin detachment in central Ontario. At the time of his death, he was on voluntary deployment with the James Bay detachment.
Brown stated he will propose a motion at Wednesday’s city council meeting to rename a park after Bali, who grew up in Brampton.

The service will begin with a procession traveling west on Highway 407 from Yonge Street in Thornhill, exiting at Dixie Road in Mississauga and heading south toward Matheson Boulevard East before continuing west to Rose Cherry Place.
