Peel police have charged three men in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in a mall parking lot in Brampton earlier this month.
Two men, both aged 20 from Brampton, and a 25-year-old from Toronto are now facing first-degree murder charges as a result of the incident, Peel Regional Police stated in a news release on Wednesday.
On December 8, police reported that Jaskarn Dhaliwal, 25, from Brampton was shot and killed while sitting in a car near Shoppers World on Main Street. Several shots were fired, according to authorities, and the suspects left before officers arrived.
The three individuals were arrested following an investigation into the shooting, and police confirmed they are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.
“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety,” the release stated.
The accused will each appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for bail hearings, police said.
A spokesperson for the police initially told CBC Toronto Wednesday that they had “no plans” to release the identity of the victim; however, after further inquiry, they confirmed he was Dhaliwal.
