More snow is on the way for parts of southern Ontario this Wednesday.

Snowfall and cold warnings remain in effect across various areas of the province.

A warning has been issued for 30 to 50 centimetres of snow affecting the Bruce Peninsula, Sauble Beach, Tobermory, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, and Bruce County as of Wednesday morning, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

: -30 wind chills could hit southern Ontario multiple times

Between 15 to 30 centimetres of snow is expected around Barrie, Orillia, and Collingwood due to ongoing lake effect snow bands, according to the warning.

Travel conditions are likely to be dangerous in these regions, with visibility potentially dropping to near zero at times. Road closures may occur.

The snow squalls will lessen and move north later Wednesday morning but are expected to return by evening.

Cottage country areas like Parry Sound, Huntsville, and Bracebridge could see 10 to 20 centimetres of snow along with southwesterly winds.

A snow squall watch is active for regions east of Oshawa including Port Hope, Cobourg, Belleville, and Kingston. Visibility might be greatly reduced during heavy snowfall and local blowing snow. Local snowfall amounts between five to ten centimetres are possible. The snowfall is anticipated to start around midday and wrap up by Wednesday evening.

A cold warning remains active with wind chill values ranging from -25 C to -30 C in southwestern Ontario. This warning covers areas from Woodstock through London down to Windsor.

Extreme cold poses risks especially for young children, older adults, those with chronic health issues, people working or exercising outdoors, and anyone without proper shelter.

Symptoms related to the cold can include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain or weakness, numbness in fingers or toes along with color changes.

Frostbite can set in within minutes on exposed skin when wind chill factors are involved.

The Greater Toronto Area no longer falls under the cold warning; however it may still feel like -23 C due to wind chill effects. A high temperature of -9 C is forecasted.
