A Beeton, Ont., man accused in a historic {sex} crimes case involving a five-year-old lady made his first digital courtroom look on Thursday in Bradford.
An articling scholar appeared on behalf of counsel for John Wilkinson, 59, who’s charged with sexual assault and interference.
Wilkinson is accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old lady who, police say, lived in his neighbourhood 14 years in the past.
Neighbours mentioned they weren’t stunned by the allegations towards Wilkinson, which haven’t been confirmed in courtroom.
“He advised my daughter he needed to play the tickle sport,” mentioned neighbour David Hawkes.
Investigators mentioned the complainant got here ahead in August, and Wilkinson was arrested shortly after in reference to the investigation.
In an interview on Sept. 12 with Ontario Chronicle, OPP Const. Isabella Andrade mentioned the complainant recognized the accused. “If there are every other victims, please come ahead,” prompted Andrade.
Police remind the general public there isn’t a statute of limitations for sexual offences, noting a report might be made at any time to the authorities, whatever the timeline.
