A police officer in Barrie, Ont., has been charged with assault following a disturbance call last week.
Barrie police report that the incident on June 8 was brought to the chief’s attention, prompting a complaint.
The professional standards unit investigated, which resulted in the officer being charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.
The name of the officer has not been disclosed, and police provided no further details about the incident as it is now a court matter.
<p Authorities say that the officer, who has served in policing for 11 years, joined the Barrie force in 2024.
Investigators noted that the 38-year-old officer has been reassigned to non-public-facing duties.
