ORIGINAL ( on April 24th at 9:45 a. m.)

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is looking into a violent home invasion in Burlington alongside an attempted break-in in Oakville that they believe involves the same group of suspects.

These incidents took place early Wednesday morning, April 22nd. Around 3:45 a. m., five individuals targeted a residence in Burlington’s Roseland neighborhood, breaking a glass panel on the front door to get inside before confronting those present.

According to police reports, the suspects demanded valuables which resulted in a physical confrontation where one resident was hit on the head with an unknown object and needed medical assistance. The suspects fled shortly after without taking anything.

Investigators suspect that this same group was responsible for an earlier attempted break-in around 3:00 a. m. in southeast Oakville. In that situation, one resident reported hearing loud banging as suspects kicked at their front door and used a hammer trying to break it open. They ran off when the homeowner called 9-1-1.

In both instances, witnesses described seeing suspects leaving in a dark-colored sedan. They were identified as five males with slim builds wearing dark clothing, hoods, and balaclavas.

Police are asking anyone who may have been driving or living near Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive in Oakville between 2:45 a. m. and 3:10 a. m., as well as New Street between Walkers Line and Guelph Line or Rossmore Boulevard in Burlington from around 3:30 a. m. to 4:10 a. m., to check any surveillance or dashcam footage they may have recorded during those times.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers: “See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
