Niagara Police identify woman who was victim of a St Catharines homicide

Niagara Police have disclosed the name of the victim involved in a homicide that took place in St Catharines two weeks ago.

On Friday, May 15, 2026, officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) were called to a residence near Lakeshore Road and Lake Street after reports of two individuals not showing vital signs. 

When they arrived, officers discovered 23-year-old Vidhi Kalpeshkumar Megha deceased at the scene.  Also present was 40-year-old Joshua St. Omer from St Catharines, who was initially believed to be without vital signs but was later taken to a local hospital for care. His injuries were found to be non-life threatening, and he has now been charged with Second Degree Murder.

The family of the victim has been informed. 

If anyone has information about this case, they are encouraged to reach out to the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) at (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009451. 

Community members wishing to share information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477(TIPS). Crime Stoppers provides cash rewards for tips that lead to an arrest.
