Weapons Confiscated in Northern B. C. Linked to Ontario Murder Case

8:22 am Thursday, June 11, 2026

The Terrace region remains significant in the ongoing investigation into the murder of a man in Ontario on April 12, 2026.

Initially, investigators from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had pinpointed the Terrace area as a possible location for one of the two suspects wanted for the second degree murder of Christo Allison Richards.

On June 10, OPP released a statement indicating that officers from both OPP and RCMP seized two firearms during a search at a rural property in Terrace.

“Lyna Du, 32 years old of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, contrary to section 240 of the Criminal Code (CC). The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Friday June 12, 2026,” the release stated.

This marks the second arrest related to Richards’ death. A person was charged with conspiracy to commit murder back in May.

The suspects Joseph Madore, 34, and Brayton Kennedy, 28-both from Ottawa-are still unaccounted for. They are both charged with second degree murder early in this investigation.

From early on, investigators believed Madore might be hiding out in B. C., naming Terrace among several locations due to his known connections here. Other possible areas included Richmond, Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

“Investigators believe that Madore may be camping in a rural area of British Columbia. Kennedy’s whereabouts are unknown. If seen, do not approach. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately,” according to OPP’s announcement.

Madore is described as six-foot-two inches tall and weighing about 189 pounds; he has a medium build along with hazel eyes and black hair featuring tattoos.

Kennedy stands five-foot-11 inches tall and weighs around 260 pounds; he has brown hair and blue eyes along with a tattoo above his left eyebrow on his forehead.

The authorities found Richards suffering life-threatening injuries on April 12 after responding to an emergency call at Last Duel Park located an hour south of Ottawa. Unfortunately, he passed away later at the hospital.

If you have any information regarding this case or these individuals’ whereabouts please reach out to Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. For those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visit ontariocrimestoppers. ca.
