A woman has died and a man is in serious condition after a driver crashed into a bus shelter in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The accident took place around 2:30 p. m. at the intersection of Kingston and Brock roads, as detailed in a news release from the police on Thursday.

Authorities stated that a driver was heading west in a white Chevrolet Cruze when they collided with two other vehicles traveling in the same direction.

The Chevrolet then veered off the road, striking a bus shelter and two pedestrians before returning to the roadway and hitting another vehicle, as per the news release.

A 31-year-old woman was taken by paramedics to an air ambulance where she was pronounced dead, according to police. The second victim, a 26-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

All drivers involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, as mentioned in the news release.

Anyone who has information about this incident is encouraged to reach out to police or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
