The Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking into the finding of human remains in Thornton. On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, just before 11:30 a. m., police received a call about human remains discovered at a home on 10th Line in Thornton. The initial details indicate this is an isolated case with no evidence suggesting a wider danger. Officers are actively monitoring the situation. Residents in the area can expect to see more police presence as the investigation continues. The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is leading this inquiry under the supervision of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
