On Wednesday, freezing rain led to a Porter Airlines flight sliding off the taxiway at John C. Munro International Airport.

A spokesperson for Porter stated that flight PD 478 from Edmonton landed safely but then lost grip on the taxiway while heading to the terminal, causing the nose wheel to slide off the pavement.

The airline mentioned that runways were temporarily closed as a safety measure and two flights were redirected.

There were 78 passengers and crew members onboard, but thankfully no one was hurt.

When asked about any damage to the plane, Porter confirmed that it was checked before being put back into service.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has acknowledged the incident and is in the process of collecting information, although they haven’t sent investigators to the airport yet.

A week prior in Halifax, another Porter Airlines flight also slid on a taxiway after landing and got stuck in snow.

No injuries occurred during that event either.
