A man, aged 31, has been charged with first-degree murder related to a homicide that took place Wednesday morning, according to Windsor police.
The suspect has been named as Brandon Gerald Leigh.
Police were called to the parking lot of Windsor Regional Hospital’s Metropolitan campus shortly after 5:30 a. m. on Wednesday when they found a 44-year-old man unresponsive, as stated in a news release Thursday afternoon.
“Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased,” police said in the release.
A preliminary investigation revealed that “the victim had sustained a fatal injury just prior to being transported to the hospital,” and he was left outside the facility.
Officers managed to identify a suspect who was tracked down at a home in the 9200 block of Broderick Road in La Salle, police reported. The Emergency Services Unit carried out a warrant at the residence just before 9 p. m. Wednesday night and arrested Leigh without any incidents.
Investigators noted that the accused and victim were familiar with each other, and they believe this incident is isolated.
