Damascus, Feb. 19 (SANA) Syria expressed its appreciation on Thursday for Canada’s choice to lift sanctions placed on the country, describing it as a positive step towards better relations.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry noted that this decision shows a movement towards dialogue and collaboration based on mutual respect.

The ministry thanked the Canadian government and its people for their support of Syrians.

It mentioned that lifting the sanctions paves the way for a new phase in bilateral relations that benefits both nations, aids recovery and rebuilding efforts, enhances living standards, and fosters regional stability.

The ministry also reaffirmed Syria’s dedication to engaging positively with the global community.
