Two residents of Brampton have lost their lives following a serious multi-vehicle accident over the weekend, with a young offender facing charges linked to the incident, according to Peel Regional Police on Tuesday.
Officials reported that the crash took place around 4:20 a. m. on Nov. 1 at the intersection of Queen Street and Chinguacousy Road. While initial reports suggested it was a single-vehicle incident, investigators later confirmed that two vehicles were actually involved.
One driver was declared dead shortly after the collision. On Tuesday, police provided an update identifying the deceased as two Brampton residents – a 31-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman – who both died from their injuries. Authorities later clarified that both victims were traveling in the same vehicle.
As for the driver of the second vehicle, who cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, they have been charged with dangerous driving causing death and failure/refusal to comply with demand.
The accused remains in custody as investigations continue.
The accident resulted in significant road closures in the area for several hours on Saturday morning. Police haven’t shared details about what led to the crash, including speed or potential impairment factors.
Investigators are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed anything in the area during that time to come forward.
