Local Educator Peter Roach Passes Away at 88

Local Educator Peter Roach Passes Away at 88

ROACH, Peter Leo (Dedicated Teacher, Principal, and Director of Education for the Peterborough Catholic School Board, as well as a long-time member and Knight of Columbus at St. Anne’s Parish): He passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, August 17, 2018, in his 88th year. Peter was the loving husband of Teresa Murphy for 63 years. He was a devoted father to Mary Ellen Ormond (Chris), Cathy Weir (Paul), Maureen Roach (Regina Rieckenberg), and Sharon Sidaros (Fred). He was also a cherished Grandpa to Sean, Cam, Josh; Shannon (Brooke), Braden (Amy), Mark (Kayla); Alexander, and Matthew, and Great Poppa Pete to Lillian, Landyn, and Eli.

Peter was the dear brother of Edna Mc Avoy and Helen Brownson (Art). He is predeceased by brothers Joe, John (Patricia), Harry, Raymond (Muriel), Patrick (Rosemary), Charlie (Margaret, predeceased), and sister Mildred Buckley (Jim, predeceased). He was also a brother-in-law to Eileen Murphy. Many nieces and nephews will fondly remember him along with his great nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Patrick Roach and Ellen O’Neill. Family and friends are invited to visit at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Road on Sunday, August 19th from 1:00 to 4:00 p. m. and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p. m. A Funeral Mass will take place at ST. ANNE’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH located at 859 Barnardo Ave., on Monday, August 20th at 11:00 a. m., with a reception following in St. Anne’s Parish Hall. The family will have a private interment at Marysville Catholic Cemetery. In memory of Peter, donations to Casa De Angelae or Princess Margaret Hospital or the PRHC Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
