A single-vehicle accident caused a lengthy closure on Highway 24 between Cambridge and Brantford on Thursday.
Emergency services received reports of the crash before 5 a. m. It occurred between Blue Lake Road and German School Road, with callers mentioning that first responders were on the scene, rerouting traffic around the area.
This closure resulted in delays at both ends of the affected stretch, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) indicated that repairs to hydro lines were necessary following the incident.
In addition to the crash, Grand Bridge Energy reported that the accident caused a power outage affecting over 1,200 residents in and around St. George.
Highway 24 was fully reopened by approximately 1:30 p. m. Thursday, coinciding with the restoration of power in the area.
