A 48-year-old man has died after a workplace accident in Hamilton on Monday afternoon, according to police.
Emergency responders arrived at a waste transfer facility on Strathearne Avenue around 4:20 p. m. following reports that a worker was hit by heavy machinery.
The man, aged 48, was found at the location with serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for care but unfortunately passed away later.
“The incident involved a commercial vehicle and heavy equipment operating at the site,” police stated in a news release.
“The Ministry of Labour has been notified and is assisting with the investigation. The Office of the Chief Coroner is also involved and has ordered a post-mortem examination.”
Police mentioned that the investigation is “ongoing,” adding that no further details will be released at this time.
