Police in York Region are on the lookout for a man following an incident where a vehicle was intentionally set ablaze and shot at in Vaughan.
According to investigators, just before 7 a. m. on September 17, someone living near Forest Heights Boulevard and Highway 27 witnessed an individual reportedly setting fire to their vehicle.
The flames were quickly extinguished, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities mention that security footage captured a man leaving a grey 2022 Honda Civic with Ontario licence plate DFEA247 while carrying a bag with a jerry can. He is seen pouring some liquid onto the resident’s car before igniting it. The suspect then went back to his vehicle and fired multiple rounds towards the resident’s car before fleeing the scene.
Police stated that the suspect’s vehicle had been reported stolen in Toronto and was linked to another shooting that occurred in Peel Region later that same evening.
The suspect is described as being around five-feet-10 tall and was last spotted wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jogging pants, black running shoes with white soles, and grey gloves.
If anyone has information regarding this incident or the individual involved, they are urged to contact law enforcement.
